Cranes

Overhead Cranes

Are used for various purposes, handle different types of loads, and are operated in different ways. Overhead Cranes are used in a variety of areas to support processing and handling throughout a facility:

  • Assembly: Moving products through production processes
  • Transportation: Loading finished products onto open trailers or railcars
  • Staging: Holding work-in-process for additional production processes
  • Storage: Transporting heavy items to and from storage areas
  • Warehousing: Moving large, heavy products to and from docks

Bridge Cranes

A lifting and horizontal movement device mounted on a “bridge” of one or more horizontal girders (bridge girders) which are supported at either end by trucks (end trucks).

These trucks are attached at right angles to the girders and move on runways which are attached to a building’s columns, overhead trusses, frames, or via a free standing system of columns.

Free Standing Bridge Crane

Free Standing floor supported systems do not put stress on the building’s overhead structure. Installation is usually more straight forward,
and these cranes are also easier to relocate in the future. Free Standing systems require a reinforced concrete floor of at least 6 inches.

  • Capacities from 150 to 4000 lbs
  • Rectangular Coverage with up to 34′ bridge and 124′ runway standard
  • Standard support distances of 20, 25, and 30 feet.
  • Easy to move and position loads
  • Modular design for greater flexibility
  • Doesn’t require support structure

Options

  • Aluminum or stainless steel
  • Aluminum or coped aluminum bridge
  • Cantilevered supports
  • Seismic Zone IV
  • Motorize
  • Galvanizing; custom paint

Ceiling Mounted Bridge Crane

With Ceiling Mounted Systems, supporting steel does not interfere with the handling operation. Ceiling Mounted Systems require a building with an adequate overhead structure to hang the crane.

  • Capacities from 150 to 4000 lbs
  • Rectangular Coverage with up to 34′ bridge and 124′ runway standard
  • Standard support distances of 20, 25, and 30 feet.

Applications

  • Applications with lighter loads (less than 4000 lbs.)
  • Parts Assembly
  • Machining
  • Palletizing loads
  • Injection Molding
  • Warehouse loading docks
  • Process Equipment Maintenance
  • Truck Service Centers

Bridge cranes cover rectangular work areas, while MonoraiI Systems can be used to move loads along a linear path, cover various work area shapes, or to link work areas together.

Work Stations & Monorails

Work Stations and MonoraiIs can be used individually or can be readily adapted for more sophisticated applications by the addition of extra monorail tracks, curves, and transfers that can be easily configured into a total system.

Work Stations are a proven way to improve productivity, increase quality, and provide a safer work environment both the aluminum and steel Workstation Crane Systems utilize enclosed track that is high in strength and low in weight with the ability to span up to 30 ft. and lift capacities between 150 and 4000 lbs.

Monorails A single run of overhead track on which carriers (trolleys) travel.

Options

  • Aluminium
  • Galvanizing; custom paint colors

Applications

  • Designed for applications with lighter loads (less than 4000 lbs.)
  • Parts Assembly
  • Machining
  • Palletizing loads
  • Injection Molding
  • Warehouse loading docks
  • Process Equipment Maintenance
  • Truck Service Centers

Cleveland Tramrail Overhead Cranes

Cleveland Tramrail® Patented Tarca® Track Cranes continue to be the benchmark of overhead cranes

Cleveland Tramrail’s unique Tarca® Track, with its special raised tread and high carbon track, is superior to I-Beams in strength, durability, and consistency. Our rails permit the use of underhung carriers operating on a single straight, curved, or inclined track or operating on two or more straight track runways.

Applications

  • Hot metal applications
  • High duty cycle applications
  • Parts Assembly
  • Warehouse loading docks
  •  Injection Molding
  •  Process Equipment Maintenance
  • Truck Service Centers

Benefits of Tarca Track

Increased load carrying capacity and track life– the lower section of
Tarca® track is specially rolled from high carbon billet and welded to
a structural steel web and top flange. This construction of the track
increases its load carrying capacity while retaining its non-peening
qualities and significantly increasing track life. peening- gradual
movement of metal by the rolling action of wheels. The metal moves
to one or both sides of the rail, depending on the rail design, and is
the chief source of wear.

Raised tread stays flat and smooth – raised tread design allows metal
to flow in both directions when repeatedly subjected to a rolling load;
the tread stays flat and smooth allowing for easy rolling of loaded wheels.

Maximum strength, maximum rigidity, and greater safety – the high
carbon alloy steel rail is joined by a carefully controlled welding process
which means maximum strength and rigidity and greater safety.
Standardized rail widths – the most distinguishing feature of patented
rail is that a rail of uniform width can be maintained over a wide range
of beam depths and carrying capacities. This uniformity provides a basis
for standardization not only in trolleys and end trucks, but also in interlocks,
electrification brackets, and other accessories.

A better installation, faster – Overall track depth is held to close tolerances. Flange and rail are held square with the web. This accuracy eliminates time consuming shimming and fitting during erection. Systems fit neatly together for smooth, quiet operation.

Gantry Cranes

Gantry Cranes provide an economical way to lift materials anywhere in a facility.
The casters enable you to move the gantry around your work area.
This is a more cost-effective lifting solution for areas of infrequent lifts than a more expensive permanent structure.

Types of Gantry Cranes:

  • Fixed Height Gantry Cranes; Available in spans up to 30′ and capacities up to 5 ton.
  • Adjustable Height Gantry Cranes provide the most flexible lifting solution of any style gantry crane.
  • Aluminum Gantry Cranes are made from lightweight extruded aluminum track. They have an adjustable span and height and are collapsible for easy storage when not in use.  Aluminum gantry cranes are lightweight and collapsible for easy storage

Jib Cranes

The Jib Crane generally utilizes a lifting device (hoist) that is mounted on the horizontal Boom (Jib). The easy rotation and optimal standard deflection allow workers to position loads safely and easily. Jib Cranes lift and transport materials  in semi circles (180 degrees) or full circles (360 degrees) around their support structure. Jib Cranes can also be used to “hand off” materials to adjacent workstations. Hoists, Manipulators, or Balancers can be Installed on the jib’s booms. Motorized Jibs are available in the free standing, Wall Bracket, Wall Cantilever and Mast Type Series

Types of jib cranes:

  • Free Standing Jib Cranes – best coverage / easiest to move solution
  • Wall Bracket Jib Cranes – lowest cost / best deflection solution
  • Wall Cantilever Jib Cranes – best headroom solution
  • Mast Type Jib Cranes – lowest thrust and pull solution
